Lake Compounce

This past month has been hotter than usual, with temps consistently in the mid-to-high nineties for most of July and into August. This hasn’t deterred us from continuing to play a lof of tennis, however. Shane and I have been playing a few times a week at Warwick Heights and/or East Greenwich HS (depending on ladies night at WH…). Jack hasn’t been playing as much and instead has been teaching Muffy and Buffy at Point Judith Country Club. In terms of highlights since my last blog post, we watched the Finals of the Newport Hall of Fame Championships, went to Dede’s 79th birthday Party at Auntie Jen’s and went to Lake Compounce with Scott and Luke. We had a blast to say the least, with all of us (including me) mustering the courage to go on “DownTime”. While I was scared out of my mind, Shane made me go with his guilt that he’d have to go on the ride himself. Other highlights from the day included going down the “flume”, with all the boys flicking the camera the “bird”, going down all the waterpark slides, watching the boys go on just about every amusement park ride and then stopping at Mystic pizza for our traditional pizza dinner.

On the learning front, Jack has begun digging into the “common app” and just finished writing his supplemental essay to Boston College. He’s currently at the table filling in information for each of his ~ 10 schools he’ll be applying to in the Fall. Jack’s also preparing for his upcoming Calculus class with Andy. Shane is also working with Andy 2x/week, and is also working with another tutor, Melinka, with the goal of acing the upcoming Hendricken Spanish Entrance Exam. He’s doing everything he can to set himself up for a great freshman year. In addition, he’s made lots of progress on his Google Data Analytics certification course and is now more than half-way through the multi-month schedule.
