Go Eagles!

The first month of school has been a productive one for the boys. Jack has officially completed all of his common app essays for each of the schools and has narrowed down his college list to the following: BC, UVA, Notre Dame, Michigan, Wake Forest, UCLA, Berkely, Santa Barbara, BU, PC and UCONN. He’s decided to apply Early Decision (ED) to BC and should know the outcome before the holidays. Jack’s also completed a Wharton Quantitative Modeling class through Coursera. He’s also added to his website and to his LinkedIn profile as well as completed his resume. On the Hendricken front, he’s getting mostly all A’s in his classes and is still working weekly with Andy so to stay on top of his A.P Calc game. He’s also gone to a couple Hendricken football games with his friends and has freaked mom out a couple times by staying out later than 10:30. What a rebel!
Shane has also come out of the gates strong in school. He so far has a 97 or higher average in all his classes and is acting as a tutor to many of his friends on a nightly basis lol. Even more importantly (at least in my eyes:) Shane completed the grueling Google Data Analytics Certification a couple weeks ago, with his case study being completed and confirmed. This is an AMAZING accomplishment. The certification course took several months of hard work and was only allowed to be completed by post-college professionals. For Shane to have the initiative to tackle this on his own and then bring to completion is something he should be super proud of. As I always say, “Commitment signifies the beginning, but consistency brings the goal to completion.” Shane was consistent every week and now has a certification that very few kids in the country his age have.
This past weekend we also attended the BC-Louisville football game and had a blast. We parked at Shake Shack, grabbed some lunch, Ubered to the game and then walked back post-game. The game itself was electric. BC ended up winning 34-33 and the stadium was packed even though it was a dreary day. We also grabbed some snacks at the tailgate party and got a couple shirts at the BC Bookstore. All in all it was lots of fun, with Jack more excited than ever to make BC his first choice. While talking about schools, Jack and I also will be travelling to UVA this upcoming weekend to walk the Virginia campus as well as take in the sights of Washington DC together. It should be a lot of fun!
